Ingredients & steps
Ingredient-HonestIngredients
- 4oz Cold Brew Concentrate (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tbsp Vanilla-Maple Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
- 2oz cold heavy cream (look for one whose only ingredient is cream -- many major brands add carrageenan)
- 2oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk)
- Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)
Steps
- 1.Make a batch of Vanilla-Maple Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
- 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
- 3.Pour 4oz cold brew concentrate over the ice, then stir in 2 tbsp of the vanilla-maple syrup until dissolved.
- 4.In a separate small cup or jar, whisk together 2oz cold heavy cream and 2oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk).
- 5.Pour the cream blend over the top and stir it all the way through, 2-3 stirs. Serve immediately with a straw.

Milk options — the Ingredient-Honest read
We hold every milk option to the same bar as the rest of this recipe — here's exactly where each one stands, not just the ones that pass.
- PassKirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk — organic and rBST-free -- already clears Criterion 16 outright, no change needed
- ConditionalWhole dairy milk (regular, non-organic) — needs to be organic and rBST-free to fully qualify -- this recipe's own default, Kirkland Organic A2, already is
- Conditional2% reduced-fat dairy milk — same as regular whole dairy -- needs to be organic and rBST-free to fully qualify
- PassOat milk (Elmhurst 1925 Unsweetened Milked Oats) — filtered water, whole grain oats, and salt, nothing else
- PassAlmond milk (Elmhurst 1925 Unsweetened Milked Almonds) — filtered water and almonds only
- PassAlmond milk (Califia Farms Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk) — water, organic almonds, and sea salt only
- PassAlmond milk (Malk Unsweetened Almond Milk) — filtered water, almonds, and Himalayan pink salt only
- PassSoy milk, unsweetened (Unsweetened Edensoy Organic) — purified water and organic soybeans only
- FailsRice milk, unsweetened (e.g. Rice Dream Unsweetened Original) — added oil and/or a gum -- every commercial rice milk we checked uses at least one; no clean commercial option currently exists
Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Ingredient-Honest" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.
This is the Ingredient-Honest build of our Vanilla Cream Cold Brew — the same real maple-and-vanilla swap behind our top-recommended Ingredient-Honest Vanilla Latte, just built over cold brew with a poured cream instead of steamed milk.
What “Ingredient-Honest” Means Here
The syrup swaps cane sugar for real maple syrup — two ingredients you could read off a label without a dictionary. The cream side needs its own check: heavy cream is a whole-food dairy ingredient on its own, but many major grocery brands add carrageenan as a stabilizer, which fails Criterion 4 even though the cream itself is otherwise clean. Look for one that lists only “cream” — Organic Valley, Clover, and most local-dairy brands qualify; several major national ultra-pasteurized brands don’t.
Building the Drink
- Fill a 16oz glass with ice and pour 4oz Cold Brew Concentrate over it, then stir in 2 tbsp vanilla-maple syrup until dissolved.
- Separately, whisk 2oz cold heavy cream (carrageenan-free) with 2oz cold whole milk or full-fat oat milk.
- Pour the cream blend over the top and stir it through. Serve immediately.
Savings per drink: about $2.50, and 215 fewer calories (41% less) than Chick-fil-A’s own published nutrition figures (520 cal per chick-fil-a.com; price is representative, per multiple 2026 menu-price trackers).
Assumptions: real maple syrup at typical grocery pricing, a carrageenan-free heavy cream, and Kirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk. The syrup itself is a one-time ~$4.80 and makes about 10 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the breakdown.
Swapping the Milk? Here’s the Honest Read on Each Option
Milk swap-ins here get graded against the same bar as everything else on this site, and that verdict doesn’t change by flavor — a clean almond milk is clean whether it’s going into this vanilla cream cold brew or any other recipe. Rather than reprint the full rundown on every page, we keep the actual brand-by-brand findings in one place: see the Ingredient-Honest Registry for exactly which oat, soy, almond, rice, and dairy picks Pass, Fail, or carry a condition — including the specific reason each failing brand doesn’t make the cut. Short version for this recipe: stick with Kirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk above, or swap in one of the registry’s Pass picks instead.

FAQ
Is this the same syrup as the Ingredient-Honest Vanilla Latte?
Yes — the same Vanilla-Maple Syrup batch works for both. Make one jar and use it for lattes or cold brews interchangeably.
Why does the heavy cream need its own compliance check when the milk already has one?
Because they’re genuinely different products with different common additives — a milk brand’s gums don’t tell you anything about a cream brand’s stabilizers. Both need their own label check to keep the badge honest.
Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?
No — one batch covers about 10 drinks over two weeks. The Vanilla-Maple Syrup recipe is meant to be made ahead.
