Uses Cold Brew Concentrate (Plain, No Protein) — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Ingredient-Honest

    Ingredients

    • 4oz Cold Brew Concentrate (homemade or store-bought)
    • 2 tbsp Maple Toasted Marshmallow Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • 2oz cold heavy cream (look for one whose only ingredient is cream -- see the note below)
    • 2oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk)
    • Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Maple Toasted Marshmallow Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
    2. 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
    3. 3.Pour 4oz cold brew concentrate over the ice, then stir in 2 tbsp of the maple toasted marshmallow syrup until dissolved.
    4. 4.In a separate small cup or jar, whisk together 2oz cold heavy cream and 2oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) -- this is the light sweet cream blend. It should look just barely thickened, not whipped.
    5. 5.Pour the cream blend over the top and stir it all the way through, 2-3 stirs. Serve immediately with a straw.

Milk options — the Ingredient-Honest read

We hold every milk option to the same bar as the rest of this recipe — here's exactly where each one stands, not just the ones that pass.

    • PassKirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk — organic and rBST-free -- already clears Criterion 16 outright, no change needed
    • ConditionalWhole dairy milk (regular, non-organic) — needs to be organic and rBST-free to fully qualify -- this recipe's own default, Kirkland Organic A2, already is
    • Conditional2% reduced-fat dairy milk — same as regular whole dairy -- needs to be organic and rBST-free to fully qualify
    • PassOat milk (Elmhurst 1925 Unsweetened Milked Oats) — filtered water, whole grain oats, and salt, nothing else
    • PassAlmond milk (Elmhurst 1925 Unsweetened Milked Almonds) — filtered water and almonds only
    • PassAlmond milk (Califia Farms Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk) — water, organic almonds, and sea salt only
    • PassAlmond milk (Malk Unsweetened Almond Milk) — filtered water, almonds, and Himalayan pink salt only
    • PassSoy milk, unsweetened (Unsweetened Edensoy Organic) — purified water and organic soybeans only
    • FailsRice milk, unsweetened (e.g. Rice Dream Unsweetened Original) — added oil and/or a gum -- every commercial rice milk we checked uses at least one; no clean commercial option currently exists

Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Ingredient-Honest" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. This is the Ingredient-Honest build of our Toasted Marshmallow Cream Cold Brew family — and it’s the one recipe in this whole 4-flavor set that doesn’t contain a single marshmallow.

What “Ingredient-Honest” Means Here (and Why No Marshmallows)

Real marshmallows are corn syrup, refined sugar, gelatin, and water. That fails this tier’s bar outright (Criteria 1 and 2 of our Ingredient-Honest standard), the same way a real hazelnut or pistachio syrup fails it when no clean commercial extract exists. Rather than drop this flavor from the tier, we rebuilt it from Maple Toasted Marshmallow Syrup — real maple syrup, broiled under direct heat until it genuinely browns, which gets closer to a real toasted flavor than you’d expect from an ingredient list with no marshmallow on it.

A Note on the Heavy Cream

Heavy cream is a real, single-ingredient dairy product on its own — but many major grocery-brand heavy whipping creams add carrageenan as a stabilizer, which fails Criterion 4 (no gums or stabilizers) even though the cream itself is otherwise clean. Check the label: a heavy cream that lists only “cream,” or “cream” plus a stated additive-free claim, is what this tier’s default assumes. Organic Valley, Clover, and most local-dairy heavy creams are reliably additive-free; several major national ultra-pasteurized brands are not.

    Building the Drink

    1. Fill a 16oz glass with ice and pour 4oz Cold Brew Concentrate over it, then stir in 2 tbsp maple toasted marshmallow syrup until dissolved.
    2. Separately, whisk 2oz cold heavy cream (carrageenan-free, see above) with 2oz cold whole milk or full-fat oat milk.
    3. Pour the cream blend over the top and stir it through. Serve immediately.
Chick-fil-A Toasted Marshmallow Cream Cold Brew vs. This Version, Honestly Compared
Chick-fil-A Toasted Marshmallow Cream Cold Brew (medium)~$4.25 / 520 cal
Home Ingredient-Honest Toasted Marshmallow Cream Cold Brew~$1.99 / 344 cal

Savings per drink: about $2.26, and 176 fewer calories (34% less) than Chick-fil-A’s own published nutrition figures (520 cal per chick-fil-a.com; price is representative, per multiple 2026 menu-price trackers). That gap is real but smaller than the Standard tier’s — real maple syrup, broiled with no water dilution, runs a lot more calorie-dense than melted marshmallow, which is mostly air and water. See the syrup recipe for the full honest breakdown of that tradeoff.

Assumptions: real maple syrup at typical grocery pricing (the dominant cost here), a carrageenan-free heavy cream (slightly pricier than a standard grocery brand), and Kirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk.

Why We’re Not Overselling This Tier

Of the four flavors in this family, Toasted Marshmallow is the one where the Ingredient-Honest swap changes the most about the recipe — it’s not a sweetener substitution, it’s a completely different flavor-building method, with no marshmallow anywhere in the ingredient list. It’s also the one where the calorie number moves the wrong direction versus Standard, for the same reason our Maple Caramel Syrup does. We’d rather say that plainly than let the badge imply a nutrition win it isn’t.

    FAQ

Does this actually taste like toasted marshmallow without any marshmallow in it?

Close — broiling maple syrup until it browns produces a genuinely toasted, slightly smoky sweetness that reads as “toasted marshmallow adjacent” rather than a plain vanilla-caramel flavor. It’s not identical to a melted-marshmallow syrup, but it’s the closest real-food route we found.

Why is this the most expensive flavor in the Ingredient-Honest tier?

Real maple syrup is the dominant cost in the syrup itself, and it takes more of it per serving than our other Ingredient-Honest syrups since broiling reduces the yield more than a stovetop method does.

Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?

No — one batch covers about 6 drinks over two weeks. The Maple Toasted Marshmallow Syrup recipe is meant to be made ahead.
