Iced Protein Cinnamon Vanilla Latte
Uses Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.
Ingredients & steps
StandardWritten iced. Switch to see the hot version's ingredients and steps.
Ingredients
- 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
- 1 scoop (about 30g) whey protein powder, vanilla or unflavored
- 2 tbsp Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
- Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)
- 4oz cold milk
Steps
- 1.Add the whey protein to a shaker bottle with the 4oz of cold milk and shake for 15-20 seconds until fully smooth.
- 2.Pull a double shot of espresso into a heat-safe cup -- not directly into your serving glass.
- 3.Stir 2 tbsp of Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup into the hot espresso until fully combined.
- 4.Fill a 16oz glass with ice, then pour the hot espresso-syrup mixture directly over the ice.
- 5.Pour the protein-milk mixture over the ice and stir gently to combine. Serve immediately with a straw.

Cinnamon vanilla is one of the warmer, more baking-spice-forward flavors on this site, and it turns out to hold up fine over ice — this build is written iced-first because protein drinks, by ordering pattern, skew toward the cold-shaken side of the menu far more than a standard latte does. A hot version is one toggle away if you’d rather have it steamed.
Building the Iced Version
- Make a batch of Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup ahead of time if you don’t have one — it’s the simplest syrup on the site (sugar, water, real cinnamon) and keeps 2 weeks in the fridge.
- Shake 1 scoop of whey protein with 4oz of cold milk until completely smooth.
- Pull a double shot of espresso into a separate heat-safe cup, then stir in the 2 tbsp of syrup while it’s still hot.
- Pour the hot espresso-syrup mixture over a full glass of ice, then top with the protein-milk mixture. Stir and serve with a straw.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a cinnamon vanilla latte plus a protein-powder add-on charge, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans, whey protein at ~$0.88/scoop. No seasonal ceiling on this one. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,320/year back in your pocket versus the café version.
Swaps & Notes
- Hot version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients — more milk (8oz steamed instead of 4oz cold), same syrup and espresso.
- Prefer a sweeter, more dessert-leaning protein latte? See our Snickerdoodle Protein Latte or Birthday Cake Protein Latte for two other cinnamon-adjacent flavors built the same way.
- Protein total: about 24g from the whey scoop, plus roughly 4g from the 4oz of cold dairy milk on the iced default — around 28g total (32g on the hot 8oz-milk version).

FAQ
Why is this recipe written iced by default instead of hot, like most of the site’s lattes?
Protein-forward coffee drinks are ordered cold far more often than hot across every chain that sells them — it’s a post-workout, shaken-bottle category more than a sit-down-latte one. The hot build is just as real; it’s the alt-temp toggle here instead of the default.
Does shaking the protein powder with cold milk work as well as steaming it in?
Yes, for whey specifically — it’s the protein that dissolves most reliably cold. Casein and plant-based proteins are more shake-sensitive; see our other protein recipes’ notes on those.
Can I skip the syrup and just use cinnamon and a sweetener?
You can, but you’ll lose the rounder, cooked-in cinnamon flavor the real syrup carries — a straight dash of ground cinnamon plus sugar tends to taste flatter and grittier than the syrup version.
