Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. This is our regular Caramel Latte with one change: a scoop of whey protein whisked into the milk before it’s steamed. Same real browned-sugar syrup, same 2-minute assembly once the syrup’s made — just built to also cover a meaningful chunk of your day’s protein.
Building the Latte
- Whisk 1 scoop of whey protein into 8oz of cold milk in a separate cup until completely smooth.
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew strong coffee.
- Stir in 2 tbsp of Caramel Syrup while the espresso is still hot.
- Steam or froth the protein-milk mixture to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso-syrup mix.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a caramel latte plus a protein-powder add-on charge, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans, whey protein at ~$0.88/scoop. No seasonal ceiling on this one. At 5 protein caramel lattes a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,272/year back in your pocket versus the café version.
Swaps & Notes
- Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients — less milk (4oz cold, shaken with the protein, instead of 8oz steamed).
- Salted-caramel fan? See our Salted Caramel Protein Cold Brew for a cold-brew-based version with the same syrup family plus a pinch of flaky salt.
- Protein total: about 24g from the whey scoop, plus roughly 8g from the 8oz of dairy milk — around 32g total (28g on the iced 4oz-milk version).
- Different protein source? Casein steams in fine but thickens more than whey; collagen dissolves clear but carries less protein per scoop (18g vs. whey’s 24g); plant-based proteins can leave a slightly gritty finish that steaming won’t fully smooth out.
- Want a verified-clean protein powder? See our Ingredient-Honest Protein Caramel Latte — same syrup idea, rebuilt with real Maple Caramel Syrup and Naked Whey (Unflavored) instead of a mystery whey blend.

FAQ
Do I need to make the caramel syrup every time?
No — one batch keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge and covers roughly 12 drinks, same as our regular Caramel Latte.
Will the protein powder change the caramel flavor?
A little — most whey proteins carry their own vanilla or unflavored base sweetness, which can round out the caramel slightly. It’s a minor effect, not a flavor clash, and an unflavored whey keeps the caramel taste closest to the non-protein version.
Can I use 2% or a milk alternative instead of whole milk?
Yes — use the milk-swap options on this page. Lower-fat and plant milks froth slightly differently with protein blended in, but the drink still works; oat and soy hold up best texture-wise of the alternatives.
