    Dirty Cinnamon Toast Dr Pepper

The BYOB Team3 min1 drink (from a batch of Cinnamon Toast Syrup, which makes about 12 servings at 2 tbsp each -- this recipe uses half a serving)~$0.54/drink once the syrup batch is made (soda + half-and-half + half a syrup serving; the syrup batch itself is a separate one-time cost -- see the syrup's own recipe page)223 cal/serving

Uses Cinnamon Toast Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

    Ingredients

    • 12oz Dr Pepper, cold
    • 1 tbsp Cinnamon Toast Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half
    • Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Cinnamon Toast Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
    2. 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
    3. 3.Pour 1 tbsp of the syrup directly over the ice.
    4. 4.Pour 12oz cold Dr Pepper over the syrup and stir gently to dissolve it -- syrup mixes into cold soda more slowly than into hot espresso, so give it a real stir, not just a swirl.
    5. 5.Top with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half -- pour it slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits in a visible layer instead of a starter cup, or stir it in fully if you prefer it blended. Serve immediately with a straw.

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. Dr Pepper is the one soda on this site where a cinnamon syrup doesn’t read as an added flavor so much as a magnified one — its own 23-flavor blend already carries clove, allspice, and a background cinnamon note most colas don’t have. Build a real Cinnamon Toast Syrup (cinnamon and brown sugar, not a bottled pump) and pour it over ice with Dr Pepper and a splash of half-and-half, and it lands close to the cereal milk left in the bowl after a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, cola and all. It’s the same soda-syrup-cream format behind Dunkin’s national “dirty soda” push and boutique chains like Swig and Sodalicious — no coffee or espresso anywhere in the build, which is the format, not a shortcut.

    Have the Syrup Made Ahead

This one leans on a jar of Cinnamon Toast Syrup already sitting in the fridge — the same syrup behind our Cinnamon Toast Latte, good for about 2 weeks. Make a batch first if you haven’t; once it exists, the drink itself is a 3-minute stir-and-pour, no stove involved.

    Building the Drink

    1. Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
    2. Pour 1 tbsp Cinnamon Toast Syrup directly over the ice.
    3. Pour 12oz cold Dr Pepper over the syrup in a steady stream down the side of the glass, not straight down the middle — Dr Pepper’s carbonation is moderate, but a fast center pour still kicks up more foam than you want before the syrup’s fully stirred in.
    4. Stir it through completely, then finish with a 1oz (2 tbsp) splash of half-and-half — over the back of a spoon for a layered look, or stirred straight in.
Dirty Soda Shop vs. Home Version
Dirty-soda-shop or Dunkin’-style flavored fountain drink (small, tax included)$4.79
Home dirty cinnamon toast dr pepper (soda, syrup, half-and-half)~$0.54
    Savings per drink$4.25

The syrup itself is a separate one-time cost — about $0.56 for a batch that covers a dozen servings; see the full Cinnamon Toast Syrup recipe for the method. From there this drink’s only marginal costs are a 12oz pour from a 2-liter bottle of Dr Pepper ($2.28, national-average grocery price, non-sale) and a 1oz splash from a $3.49 quart of half-and-half. Against a $4.79 small dirty-soda-shop drink, that’s roughly $1,020/year back in your pocket at 5 of these a week over the site’s standard 48-week year.

    Swaps & Notes

    • Dr Pepper carries three dirty-soda builds on this site. This one is the brightest and most straightforwardly cinnamon-forward; Cookie Butter Dr Pepper goes deeper into brown sugar and baking spice; French Vanilla Dr Pepper skips the spice entirely for a rounder, creamier note. Same soda, three different jobs for the syrup.
    • Prefer it rounder and less sharp, with more vanilla and less spice? See Dirty Snickerdoodle Coke instead of switching syrups here.
    • Watching sugar? The Sugar-Free Cinnamon Toast Syrup swaps in at the same 1 tbsp; pair it with a diet or zero-sugar Dr Pepper if you want the whole drink lighter, since the syrup swap alone doesn’t touch the soda’s own sugar.
    • Want it less sweet without a full sugar-free swap? Cut the syrup to 2 tsp — the cinnamon still carries.

    FAQ

Why does a cereal-flavored syrup work in soda instead of milk?

Cinnamon Toast Syrup is built to taste like the sweetened cinnamon-sugar milk left in the bowl, not the cereal itself — a flavor that was already designed to dissolve into a liquid base. That works the same whether the liquid underneath is milk, hot espresso, or cold Dr Pepper.

Is this the “Dirty Dr Pepper” that’s been going viral?

It’s the most common version of it. “Dirty Dr Pepper” online covers a whole family of Dr Pepper-plus-syrup-plus-cream builds; cinnamon is usually the first flavor people try, with coconut-lime close behind.

All three start from the same Dr Pepper-and-cream base, but the syrup does different work in each. This one is the brightest and most cinnamon-forward; Cookie Butter goes deeper into molasses and baking spice; French Vanilla drops the spice altogether for a custardy vanilla note that leans into Dr Pepper’s own vanilla-cherry undertone instead.
