    Dirty Snickerdoodle Coke

The BYOB Team3 min1 drink (from a batch of Snickerdoodle Syrup, which makes about 12 servings at 2 tbsp each -- this recipe uses half a serving)~$0.58/drink once the syrup batch is made (soda + half-and-half + half a syrup serving; the syrup batch itself is a separate one-time cost -- see the syrup's own recipe page)215 cal/serving

Uses Snickerdoodle Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

    Ingredients

    • 12oz Coke, cold
    • 1 tbsp Snickerdoodle Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half
    • Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Snickerdoodle Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
    2. 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
    3. 3.Pour 1 tbsp of the syrup directly over the ice.
    4. 4.Pour 12oz cold Coke over the syrup and stir gently to dissolve it -- syrup mixes into cold soda more slowly than into hot espresso, so give it a real stir, not just a swirl.
    5. 5.Top with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half -- pour it slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits in a visible layer instead of a starter cup, or stir it in fully if you prefer it blended. Serve immediately with a straw.

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Ingredient-Honest" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. Swig, Sodalicious, and the other soda-shop chains that popularized dirty sodas built the format around three parts — soda, flavored syrup, a splash of cream — long before Dunkin’ rolled a version of it out nationally. It’s a genuinely coffee-free drink, which is normal for the format, not a corner being cut.

Make a Batch of the Syrup First

Have Snickerdoodle Syrup ready before you start — it’s the same syrup behind the Snickerdoodle Latte, and it keeps about 2 weeks refrigerated. Once that’s made, this build is about 3 minutes start to finish.

    Building the Drink

    1. Fill a 16oz glass with ice and pour 1 tbsp snickerdoodle syrup over it.
    2. Pour in 12oz cold Coke and stir it through. Coke carries more phosphoric acid than Dr Pepper or root beer, which gives it a sharper fizz and a brighter tang — give it a few seconds to settle after stirring before you add the cream, so the half-and-half doesn’t get pushed back up through actively rising bubbles.
    3. Top with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half once the fizz has calmed down.

Snickerdoodle Syrup’s vanilla-and-cinnamon base, rounded out with a pinch of cream of tartar for real cookie tang, is closer to a cream-soda flavor than a straight cinnamon syrup would be — against Coke’s own caramel notes and sharper acidity, it reads as a genuine warm-cookie match instead of clashing.

Dirty Soda Shop vs. Home Version
Dirty-soda-shop or Dunkin’-style flavored fountain drink (small, tax included)$4.79
Home dirty snickerdoodle coke (soda, syrup, half-and-half)~$0.58
    Savings per drink$4.21

The syrup batch itself is a separate one-time cost — see the full Snickerdoodle Syrup recipe for its batch price and method. Once it’s made, this drink’s marginal cost is really just the soda and the cream splash.

Priced from a $2.28 2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola (national-average grocery, non-sale) and a $3.49 quart of half-and-half at the 1oz splash used here — the Snickerdoodle Syrup batch is a separate one-time cost on its own recipe page. At 5 drinks a week over a 48-week year, that’s about $1,010/year saved against buying it out.

    Swaps & Notes

    • This is the soda build, not the coffee one — for the same flavor over espresso, see the Snickerdoodle Latte.
    • Want more cinnamon bite and less vanilla roundness? Cinnamon Toast Syrup at the same 1 tbsp is the sharper version of this same general flavor lane — see Dirty Cinnamon Toast Dr Pepper elsewhere on the site.
    • Coke’s own sugar (~39g/12oz) outweighs the syrup’s — Sugar-Free Snickerdoodle Syrup plus a Coke Zero addresses both halves of that.
    • Lighter pour: 2 tsp of syrup keeps the cinnamon-vanilla flavor without the full dose.

    Recipe Card Summary

    Dirty Snickerdoodle Coke

    • 12oz Coke + 1 tbsp Snickerdoodle Syrup (made ahead) + 1oz half-and-half, over ice
    • Prep time: 3 minutes (after the syrup is made) · Total: 3 minutes
    • Cost: ~$0.58/drink vs. $4.79 dirty-soda-shop equivalent

    FAQ

What does snickerdoodle syrup actually taste like on its own?

Mostly vanilla and brown sugar with a cinnamon top note and a faint tang from the cream of tartar in the batch — it’s built to taste like the cookie dough itself, not just cinnamon-sugar water.

Why Coke instead of Dr Pepper or root beer for this flavor?

Coke’s higher acidity and sharper carbonation give the cinnamon-vanilla syrup something to push against — on a milder, less acidic base like root beer, the same syrup reads softer and closer to a straight cream-soda flavor instead of a cookie one.

Is this too spiced for kids?

Not really — the cinnamon here is a top note over a mostly vanilla-and-brown-sugar syrup, not a heavy dose. It reads closer to “vanilla cola with a little warmth” than a strongly spiced drink.
