Butter Pecan Frappé
Uses Butter Pecan Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.
Ingredients & steps
StandardIngredients
- 2oz espresso, freshly pulled (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/cold brew)
- 2 tbsp Butter Pecan Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it has real butter in it and only keeps about 1 week)
- 1.5 cups ice (about 10-12 standard cubes)
- 4oz cold milk
- Optional: whipped cream and chopped toasted pecans for topping
Steps
- 1.Make a batch of Butter Pecan Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it has real butter in it, so plan to use the batch within about a week.
- 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee/cold brew) -- no need to cool it first.
- 3.Add the espresso, butter pecan syrup, ice, and cold milk to a blender.
- 4.Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy with no ice chunks left.
- 5.Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream and chopped toasted pecans if using, and serve immediately with a straw.

Our Butter Pecan Latte is built on the same technique as our Brown Butter Toffee syrup — real browned butter, not a “buttery” flavor extract standing in for it. This version blends that syrup into a thick, nutty frappé instead of steaming it into a latte.
Make the Syrup First (Just Once)
This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Butter Pecan Syrup in the fridge. It has real browned butter in it, so it only keeps about 1 week — shorter than most syrups on the site — and makes roughly 8 drinks per batch. If you haven’t made one yet, go do that first, then come back here.
Building the Frappé
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz), or brew strong coffee/cold brew instead.
- Add the espresso, 2 tbsp of the butter pecan syrup, 1.5 cups of ice, and 4oz cold milk to a blender.
- Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy.
- Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream and chopped toasted pecans if using, and serve immediately with a straw.
The syrup batch itself is a one-time ~$1.61 and makes about 8 drinks — the smallest batch and shortest shelf life of any syrup on the site, since real butter doesn’t keep like a plain sugar syrup. See the full syrup recipe for the batch method.
Assumptions: grande-size blended drink, national-average specialty-menu pricing for a two-ingredient premium flavor, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. No seasonal ceiling — at 5 a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,495/year back in your pocket versus the café version.
Swaps & Notes
- Plan around the 1-week shelf life. This syrup doesn’t keep as long as our other bases — make a smaller batch if you won’t get through 8 drinks in a week.
- No espresso machine? Strong cold brew or a moka pot shot both work fine.
- Want it paired with cinnamon vanilla? See our Butter Pecan Cinnamon Vanilla Latte in latte form — we haven’t built the frappé version of the combo yet.
- Watching sugar? This is Standard-tier only for now. Blend the Sugar-Free Butter Pecan Latte iced with ice yourself for a lower-sugar (and lower-calorie) version today.

FAQ
Why does this syrup only keep a week instead of two?
It’s made with real browned butter, which is a dairy fat — it doesn’t have the shelf stability of our plain sugar-and-water syrups. Refrigerate it in an airtight jar and use it within about a week for the best flavor and food safety.
Can I make this without a blender?
The iced Butter Pecan Latte uses the same ingredients poured over ice instead of blended.
Why is this frappé’s calorie count higher than most others on the site?
The syrup itself is richer — real butter and a bigger sugar load than our lighter syrups — so 2 tbsp of it carries more calories than, say, our Caramel or Vanilla syrups. It’s an honest tradeoff for a genuinely more indulgent flavor.
