Pumpkin Spice Frappé
Uses Pumpkin Spice Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.
Ingredients & steps
StandardIngredients
- 2oz espresso, freshly pulled (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/cold brew)
- 2 tbsp Pumpkin Spice Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
- 1.5 cups ice (about 10-12 standard cubes)
- 4oz cold milk
- Optional: whipped cream and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice for topping
Steps
- 1.Make a batch of Pumpkin Spice Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
- 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee/cold brew) -- no need to cool it first.
- 3.Add the espresso, pumpkin spice syrup, ice, and cold milk to a blender.
- 4.Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy with no ice chunks left.
- 5.Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice if using, and serve immediately with a straw.

PSL season is already underway, and this is the blended take on our Copycat Pumpkin Spice Latte — same syrup, same espresso, run through a blender with ice instead of poured over it.
Make the Syrup First (Just Once)
This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Pumpkin Spice Syrup in the fridge — it keeps about 2 weeks and makes roughly 12 drinks’ worth. If you haven’t made a batch yet, go do that first, then come back here.
Building the Frappé
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz), or brew strong coffee/cold brew instead.
- Add the espresso, 2 tbsp of the pumpkin spice syrup, 1.5 cups of ice, and 4oz cold milk to a blender.
- Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy.
- Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice if using, and serve immediately with a straw.
The syrup batch itself is a one-time ~$0.95 and makes about 12 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the batch method. Same batch also covers the hot/iced latte version.
Assumptions: grande-size blended drink, seasonal chain pricing, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. This one does have a real seasonal ceiling — most chains only run it roughly Aug/Sept through November — but at 5 a week across a roughly 8-week peak window, that’s still about $256 back in your pocket for the season versus the café version, before counting that the homemade syrup keeps working past the point the café pulls it from the menu. The $7.00 café baseline is the average of two real, dated receipts (9/29/2026) from two different store locations — $6.90 and $7.10 — for a grande hot seasonal specialty drink, not a modeled national average.
Swaps & Notes
- No espresso machine? Strong cold brew or a moka pot shot both work fine.

FAQ
Can I make this without a blender?
The iced Copycat Pumpkin Spice Latte uses the same ingredients poured over ice instead of blended.
Does the syrup have real pumpkin in it?
Yes — see the Pumpkin Spice Syrup recipe for the exact batch, which uses real pumpkin puree alongside the warm spice blend, not just “pumpkin spice” flavoring with no actual pumpkin.
Can I make this year-round, or is it stuck to fall?
You can make it any time — the syrup batch doesn’t know what season it is. The seasonal ceiling in the savings math above just reflects that most cafés pull the drink off menu outside fall, so that’s the only real-world window you’re saving against.
