    Nutty Pumpkin Protein Latte

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch each of Pumpkin Spice Syrup and Hazelnut Syrup)$1.79/drink341 cal/drink

Uses Pumpkin Spice Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk
    • 1 scoop (about 30g) whey protein powder, vanilla or unflavored

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.

This pairs two syrups this site already has — Pumpkin Spice and Hazelnut — with a scoop of whey blended into the milk, the same protein move behind our Hazelnut Protein Latte and the rest of this site’s protein-format lattes.

A Note on Protein Count vs. the Real Menu Item

The chain item this is based on advertises roughly 17g of protein — noticeably less than the ~32g this recipe delivers. That’s not us overstating the real item; it’s a deliberate choice to follow this site’s own established Standard-tier protein pattern (a full scoop of whey, ~24g, blended into the milk, same as every other recipe in this protein lineup) rather than matching a smaller commercial protein add-on. If you want to match the chain’s lighter protein number more closely, use a half-scoop instead — see Swaps below.

    Building the Latte

    1. Make a batch each of Pumpkin Spice Syrup and Hazelnut Syrup ahead of time if you don’t have them.
    2. Whisk 1 scoop of whey protein into 8oz of cold milk until completely smooth.
    3. Pull a double shot of espresso into your cup and stir in 1 tbsp of each syrup while it’s hot.
    4. Steam or froth the protein-milk mixture and pour it over the espresso-syrup mix.
Café Nutty Pumpkin Protein Latte vs. Home Version
    Café pumpkin-hazelnut latte with a protein add-on~$7.25
    Home nutty pumpkin protein latte~$1.79
    Savings per drink$5.46

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average 2026 pricing for a nutty-pumpkin flavor latte plus a protein add-on, dairy milk, whey protein at ~$0.88/scoop, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,310/year back in your pocket versus the café version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • Want to match the chain’s lower ~17g protein count instead of our full-scoop ~32g? Use a half-scoop (about 15g) of whey — roughly 12g protein from the powder plus the milk’s own, landing closer to the real item.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients for less milk (4oz cold, shaken with the protein, instead of 8oz steamed).
    • Watching sugar? This one’s Standard-tier only right now — a Sugar-Free or Ingredient-Honest version may follow later.
    • Protein total: about 24g from the whey scoop, plus roughly 8g from the 8oz of dairy milk — around 32g total (28g on the iced 4oz-milk version).

    Recipe Card Summary

    Nutty Pumpkin Protein Latte

    • Prep time: 5 minutes · Total: 5 minutes
    • Cost: ~$1.79/drink vs. ~$7.25 café version · ~32g protein

    FAQ

Why does this have almost double the protein of the real chain item?

Because this recipe follows this site’s own established protein pattern (a full whey scoop, ~24g) rather than matching a specific commercial drink’s smaller add-on. See the note above if you’d rather scale down to match the chain’s ~17g more closely.

Will the protein powder make the drink taste chalky?

Not if you whisk it into cold milk first and steam it in properly, rather than stirring powder into an already-finished hot drink.

Can I use a flavored protein powder instead of plain whey plus the syrups?

Yes, though a pumpkin or hazelnut-flavored protein tends to taste more artificial than the real syrups — we’d recommend the syrup version for better flavor.
