Compare the 3 tiers of this drink

Same drink, three ways. Ingredient-Honest is our top recommendation -- Standard and Sugar-Free are the other options.

Uses Maple Chai Concentrate — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Ingredient-Honest

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 4oz Maple Chai Concentrate (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
    • 4oz whole milk (or full-fat oat milk), steamed or frothed
    • 1 tbsp Vanilla-Maple Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge; this is a half-dose, matching the Standard version's method)

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch each of Maple Chai Concentrate and Vanilla-Maple Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already.
    2. 2.Warm 4oz of the maple chai concentrate in a small saucepan or the microwave until hot, but not boiling.
    3. 3.Stir in 1 tbsp of the vanilla-maple syrup while the concentrate is still hot.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 4oz of whole milk or full-fat oat milk to about 150°F.
    5. 5.Combine the warm concentrate-and-vanilla mixture and the steamed milk in your cup and stir.

Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Ingredient-Honest" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.

Same black-tea-and-vanilla pairing as our Standard Vanilla Chai Latte, rebuilt from Maple Chai Concentrate and Vanilla-Maple Syrup — real maple syrup doing the sweetening in both bases instead of cane sugar, same half-dose vanilla method.

    What “Ingredient-Honest” Means Here

Real steeped spices, real black tea, and real maple syrup doing all the work, no refined cane sugar in either base. It’s not a “diet” version like our Sugar-Free tier — calories land a bit higher than the Standard version because maple syrup isn’t meaningfully lower-calorie than cane sugar.

Swapping the Milk? Here’s the Honest Read on Each Option

Milk swap-ins here get graded against the same bar as everything else on this site, and that verdict doesn’t change by flavor — a clean almond milk is clean whether it’s going into this vanilla chai latte or any other recipe. Rather than reprint the full rundown on every page, we keep the actual brand-by-brand findings in one place: see the Ingredient-Honest Registry for exactly which oat, soy, almond, rice, and dairy picks Pass, Fail, or carry a condition — including the specific reason each failing brand doesn’t make the cut. Short version for this recipe: stick with Kirkland Signature Organic A2 Whole Milk above, or swap in one of the registry’s Pass picks instead.

Make Both Bases First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar each of Maple Chai Concentrate and Vanilla-Maple Syrup in the fridge. The concentrate keeps about a week; the vanilla-maple syrup keeps a full 2 weeks.

    Building the Drink

    1. Warm 4oz of the maple chai concentrate until hot, but not boiling.
    2. Stir in 1 tbsp of the vanilla-maple syrup while it’s still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 4oz of whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) to about 150°F.
    4. Combine the warm concentrate-and-vanilla mixture and the steamed milk in your cup and stir.
Café Vanilla Chai vs. This Version, Honestly Compared
    Café grande vanilla chai latte$5.95
    Home Ingredient-Honest Vanilla Chai~$1.57
    Savings per drink$4.38

Both bases together cost about $10.98 total to make (~$6.18 for the Maple Chai Concentrate batch, ~$4.80 for the Vanilla-Maple Syrup batch) — real maple syrup and whole steeped spices push this the priciest of the three tiers, same as every other Ingredient-Honest combo on the site.

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a vanilla chai latte, real maple syrup at typical grocery pricing, whole steeped spices rather than pre-ground.

Why This Costs More Than the Other Two Tiers (and Why That’s Fine)

Real maple syrup and whole steeped chai spices cost more per serving than sugar or a sugar-free sweetener, so this tier’s savings run behind the Standard and Sugar-Free versions. What you’re paying the premium for is ingredient sourcing, not a cheaper drink — it’s still nearly $4.40 back per drink versus the café version.

    Recipe Card Summary

    Ingredient-Honest Vanilla Chai Latte

    • 4oz Maple Chai Concentrate (made ahead) + 4oz steamed whole milk + 1 tbsp Vanilla-Maple Syrup (made ahead, half-dose)
    • Prep time: 5 minutes (after both bases are made) · Total: 5 minutes
    • Cost: ~$1.57/drink vs. $5.95 café equivalent

    FAQ

Is this recipe actually lower in sugar than the Standard version?

Not meaningfully — maple syrup and cane sugar carry a similar amount of sugar per serving. See the Sugar-Free Vanilla Chai Latte if sugar content is your priority.

Why is this version more expensive than the other two?

Real maple syrup and whole steeped spices cost more per serving than sugar, extract, or a sugar-free sweetener. It’s still a large saving over the café version — just the smallest of the three tiers.

Do I need to make both bases every time?

No — each is its own recipe. The concentrate keeps about a week and the vanilla-maple syrup a full 2 weeks, so this page is just the assembly step once both are made.
