Dirty Toasted Coconut Caramel Cream Soda
Uses Caramel Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.
Ingredients & steps
StandardIngredients
- 12oz Cream Soda, cold
- 1/2 tbsp Toasted Coconut Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
- 1/2 tbsp Caramel Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it also keeps about 2 weeks)
- 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half
- Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)
Steps
- 1.Make a batch each of Toasted Coconut Syrup and Caramel Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- both keep about 2 weeks in the fridge.
- 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
- 3.Pour 1/2 tbsp caramel syrup over the ice first (it's the thinner of the two), then 1/2 tbsp toasted coconut syrup on top.
- 4.Pour 12oz cold Cream Soda over the syrups and stir gently to dissolve them -- syrup mixes into cold soda more slowly than into hot espresso, so give it a real stir, not just a swirl.
- 5.Top with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half -- pour it slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits in a visible layer instead of a starter cup, or stir it in fully if you prefer it blended. Serve immediately with a straw.

Dirty sodas run on soda, flavored syrup, and a splash of cream, no coffee anywhere in the build — the format Swig and Sodalicious built their menus on before Dunkin’ took a version of it national. This one’s a two-syrup build, though, not the single-flavor format most of this site’s dirty sodas use: it carries the same toasted-coconut-and-caramel “samoa”/“turtle” pairing behind the Toasted Coconut Caramel Latte, just split across two jars instead of one, on a different soda base than our existing Dirty Coconut Coke so the two don’t overlap.
Make Both Syrups First
You’ll need a jar each of Toasted Coconut Syrup and Caramel Syrup in the fridge before starting — the same two used in the Toasted Coconut Caramel Latte, each good for about 2 weeks. Once both are made, this drink itself is still just a 3-minute pour.
Building the Drink
- Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
- Pour 1/2 tbsp caramel syrup in first — it’s the thinner of the two (a straight sugar-and-water cook), so it spreads across the ice before the coconut syrup goes in, rather than pooling underneath it.
- Add 1/2 tbsp toasted coconut syrup on top, then pour in 12oz cold Cream Soda and stir until both syrups are fully dissolved — with two syrups in the glass instead of one, give it a longer stir than the single-flavor recipes need. This still keeps the combined dose at 1 tbsp total, the same as every single-flavor dirty soda on the site, just split across two jars instead of doubled.
- Finish with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half, poured slow over a spoon or stirred straight in.
Cream soda’s clean vanilla base doesn’t compete with either syrup the way a citrus or root-spice soda would — there’s no other flavor in the glass fighting for attention, so both the toasted coconut and the caramel come through clearly instead of one burying the other.
Both syrup batches are a separate one-time cost — see the Toasted Coconut Syrup and Caramel Syrup recipes for their batch prices and methods. Since this drink only uses a quarter-serving of each per glass, one pair of batches stretches to 20+ of these before either jar runs low.
Costed from a $2.18 2-liter bottle of cream soda (national-average grocery, non-sale) and a $3.49 quart of half-and-half at the 1oz splash used here — both syrup batches are separate one-time costs, priced on their own recipe pages. At 5 of these a week over a 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,018/year saved against a soda-shop equivalent.
Swaps & Notes
- Soda-and-syrup, no coffee — the same coconut-and-caramel pairing over espresso is the Toasted Coconut Caramel Latte.
- Already made Dirty Coconut Coke? That one’s coconut-only on a Coke base. This is the coconut-and-caramel combo on cream soda — genuinely different, not a repeat.
- Want it more coconut-forward or more caramel-forward? Shift the ratio to 3/4 tbsp + 1/4 tbsp in either direction rather than the even 1/2-and-1/2 split.
- Cutting sugar? Swap in Sugar-Free Toasted Coconut Syrup and Sugar-Free Caramel Syrup at the same 1/2 tbsp each, plus a diet cream soda if you want to address the soda’s own sugar too.

FAQ
Why pour the caramel syrup in before the coconut syrup?
Caramel Syrup here is a straight sugar-and-water cook with nothing else added, thinner than Toasted Coconut Syrup’s steeped-and-strained batch. Adding the thinner one first lets it spread across the ice instead of getting trapped underneath the second syrup, so both dissolve evenly once the soda goes in.
Why only 1/2 tbsp of each syrup instead of a full tablespoon?
Every single-flavor dirty soda on this site uses 1 tbsp of syrup total. Splitting that same 1 tbsp between two syrups keeps this combo drink at the same overall sweetness instead of doubling it — the same “split, don’t stack” approach this site’s two-flavor combo lattes use.
How is this different from Dirty Coconut Coke, since they share a syrup?
Dirty Coconut Coke uses Toasted Coconut Syrup alone on a Coke base. This recipe adds Caramel Syrup into the mix and swaps the soda to cream soda — different flavor pairing, different base, genuinely a different drink rather than the same one renamed.
