    Dirty Cranberry Orange Sprite

The BYOB Team3 min1 drink (from a batch of Cranberry Orange Sauce, which makes about 12 servings at 2 tbsp each -- this recipe uses half a serving)~$0.67/drink once the sauce batch is made (soda + half-and-half + half a sauce serving; the sauce batch itself is a separate one-time cost -- see the sauce's own recipe page)242 cal/serving

Uses Cranberry Orange Sauce — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

    Ingredients

    • 12oz Sprite, cold
    • 1 tbsp Cranberry Orange Sauce (make a batch ahead of time -- it's a real-cream, real-fruit sauce, so it only keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
    • 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half
    • Ice (enough to fill a 16oz glass)

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Cranberry Orange Sauce ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge.
    2. 2.Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
    3. 3.Pour 1 tbsp of the sauce directly over the ice.
    4. 4.Pour 12oz cold Sprite over the sauce and stir gently to dissolve it -- syrup/sauce mixes into cold soda more slowly than into hot espresso, so give it a real stir, not just a swirl.
    5. 5.Top with 1oz (2 tbsp) half-and-half -- pour it slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits in a visible layer instead of a starter cup, or stir it in fully if you prefer it blended. Serve immediately with a straw.

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. This is the one dirty soda in this batch built from a sauce instead of a syrup — the same Cranberry Orange Sauce behind our Cranberry Orange Latte, a real-cream, real-white-chocolate reduction with dried cranberries and fresh orange zest, not a sugar-and-extract syrup. Sprite’s lemon-lime brightness is doing real work against that: it echoes the orange zest already in the sauce and cuts through the white chocolate’s richness, the same logic behind Dirty Honey Lavender Sprite leaning on citrus soda for a floral pairing — this one just swaps the floral note for tart cranberry. No coffee or espresso anywhere in the build, same as every dirty soda on the site.

    Make the Sauce First

This recipe assumes a jar of Cranberry Orange Sauce already in the fridge — the same sauce behind the latte version. Because it’s a real-cream, real-fruit sauce rather than a shelf-stable sugar syrup, it only keeps about a week, shorter than most syrups on this site. Make a batch first if you haven’t; from there, this drink is a 3-minute pour with nothing cooked or heated.

    Building the Drink

    1. Fill a 16oz glass with ice and spoon 1 tbsp Cranberry Orange Sauce over it.
    2. Pour 12oz cold Sprite over the sauce and stir thoroughly — because this is a cream-based sauce rather than a clear syrup, it won’t fully disappear into the drink the way a sugar syrup does. Some visible flecks of cranberry and zest floating in the glass are expected texture, not a sign it didn’t mix.
    3. Top with a 1oz (2 tbsp) splash of half-and-half, over the back of a spoon for a layered look or stirred straight through.
Dirty Soda Shop vs. Home Version
Dirty-soda-shop or Dunkin’-style flavored fountain drink (small, tax included)$4.79
Home dirty cranberry orange sprite (soda, sauce, half-and-half)~$0.67
    Savings per drink$4.12

The sauce is a separate one-time cost, about $3.85 a batch — see the full Cranberry Orange Sauce recipe for the method. This is also this batch’s only recipe with a real seasonal ceiling: like the latte version, it’s a Nov-Dec flavor with roughly an 8-week window, so the yearly-savings math the rest of this site uses doesn’t apply cleanly here. At 5 drinks a week across that window (a 12oz Sprite pour at $2.28/2-liter plus a 1oz splash from a $3.49 quart of half-and-half), that’s about $165 back in your pocket for the season against a $4.79 dirty-soda-shop equivalent.

    Swaps & Notes

    • This drink costs more than the other dirty sodas in this batch, for the same honest reason the Cranberry Orange Latte does — real white chocolate, dried cranberries, and fresh citrus cost more than a plain sugar syrup.
    • No coffee here on purpose; the espresso version of this flavor is the Cranberry Orange Latte.
    • Watching sugar? The Sugar-Free Cranberry Orange Sauce swaps in at the same 1 tbsp — read its own honest note on why that substitution is harder here than in a plain syrup.
    • Prefer it less sweet? Cut the sauce to 2 tsp — the cranberry and orange still come through.

    FAQ

Why is this a “sauce” and not a “syrup” like the other dirty sodas on the site?

Because it actually is one — Cranberry Orange Sauce is built with real white chocolate and cream, closer to a dessert sauce than a sugar-and-water syrup. That’s also why it only keeps a week in the fridge instead of the two weeks most of this site’s syrups get.

Is this a real menu drink somewhere?

Not a literal one — like the Cranberry Orange Latte it’s built from, this is our own dirty soda around a cranberry-orange-white-chocolate combo common on holiday dessert menus, not a recreation of any specific chain’s product.

Why does this cost more than most other dirty sodas on the site?

Real white chocolate and dried cranberries simply cost more than sugar and extract, which is the same reason the latte version runs higher than this site’s other lattes. It’s also seasonal, so unlike this batch’s other recipes, the yearly-savings figure above is scaled to an 8-week window instead of a full 48-week year.
