Coconut pecan frosting is a real, named thing in its own right — it’s the specific frosting that makes German Chocolate Cake distinctive, sold and described independently of the chocolate cake it usually sits on (multiple coffee roasters, including CoffeeAM and San Marco, even sell “German Chocolate Cake” flavored coffee built on a coconut-pecan-caramel profile). This drink is that frosting’s flavor on its own, without the chocolate cake underneath it. This version combines this site’s own Toasted Coconut Syrup and Butter Pecan Syrup.
Two Real Bases, Not a New Fused Syrup
This drink combines two syrups this site already has: 1 tbsp Toasted Coconut Syrup and 1 tbsp Butter Pecan Syrup, split evenly. No new syrup needed.
Building the Latte
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
- Stir in 1 tbsp Toasted Coconut Syrup and 1 tbsp Butter Pecan Syrup while the espresso is still hot.
- Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso mixture.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, independent/specialty-café pricing, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,380/year back in your pocket.
Swaps & Notes
- No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
- Want the full German Chocolate Cake flavor? Add 1 tbsp Mocha Sauce on top of this base to bring in the chocolate layer most real-world versions of this flavor include.
- Watching sugar? Swap in Sugar-Free Toasted Coconut Syrup and/or Sugar-Free Butter Pecan Syrup 1:1.

FAQ
Why isn’t there chocolate in this, if it’s based on German Chocolate Cake?
Coconut pecan frosting is a real, named flavor independent of the cake it usually tops — several coffee roasters sell it as its own flavor profile. See the Swaps note above for how to add chocolate back in.
How is this different from your Toasted Coconut Caramel Latte?
That drink pairs coconut with plain Caramel Syrup; this one pairs it with Butter Pecan Syrup instead — a richer, nuttier profile.
Can I use the sugar-free versions of either base?
Yes — swap in Sugar-Free Toasted Coconut Syrup and/or Sugar-Free Butter Pecan Syrup 1:1; the ratios don’t change.
