Same drink, three ways. Ingredient-Honest is our top recommendation -- Standard and Sugar-Free are the other options.

Uses Tiramisu Sauce — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk, steamed or frothed
    • 2 tbsp Tiramisu Sauce (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
    • A light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder on top, for finishing -- the classic tiramisu garnish

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Tiramisu Sauce ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps in the fridge for about 1 week.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
    3. 3.Stir 2 tbsp of the tiramisu sauce into the hot espresso until fully combined.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso-sauce mixture.
    5. 5.Finish with a light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder on top of the foam -- the classic tiramisu garnish, in place of the whipped-cream drizzle our other lattes use. Serve immediately.

Tiramisu translates surprisingly well to a latte: the dessert is already built on coffee, cocoa, and a rich, creamy dairy element, so this drink just carries the same three things in a cup instead of a layered pan. Once the sauce is made, assembly takes about 2 minutes.

Make the Sauce First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Tiramisu Sauce in the fridge — a 15-minute batch that makes about 7 drinks’ worth. Because it contains real mascarpone, it keeps about a week, so plan to make it a little more often than our shelf-stable syrups.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 2 tbsp of the tiramisu sauce while the espresso is still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso-sauce mix.
    4. Finish with a light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder on top — the actual dessert’s classic garnish, so this drink skips the whipped-cream-and-drizzle finish most of our other lattes use.
Café Tiramisu Latte vs. Home Tiramisu Latte
Café grande tiramisu latte (tax included)$6.15
Home tiramisu latte (espresso, milk, sauce)~$1.02
    Savings per drink$5.13

The sauce batch itself is a one-time ~$1.35 and makes about 7 drinks — see the full sauce recipe for the batch method and cost breakdown, real mascarpone included.

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a specialty/dessert-flavored latte, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans, real mascarpone and instant espresso powder at typical grocery pricing.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want the whipped-cream look instead of the cocoa dusting? Both are authentic to different tiramisu presentations — add whipped cream first, then dust the cocoa on top of that.
    • Watching sugar? See the Sugar-Free Tiramisu Latte, or the Ingredient-Honest Tiramisu Latte for a real-maple, no-instant-espresso-powder version.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — less milk (about 4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed), same sauce and cocoa finish.

    FAQ

Do I need to make the sauce every time I want this drink?

No — that’s the whole reason the sauce lives in its own recipe. One batch keeps about a week and covers roughly 7 drinks.

Why cocoa powder on top instead of whipped cream?

It’s the real dessert’s signature garnish — classic tiramisu is dusted with cocoa powder on top, not whipped cream. You can add whipped cream underneath the dusting if you want both.

Can I make this without an espresso machine?

Yes — a moka pot, AeroPress, or even strong drip coffee works.
