Uses Sugar-Free Chai Concentrate — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

Ingredients
- 4oz Sugar-Free Chai Concentrate (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
- 4oz milk or unsweetened milk alternative, steamed or frothed
- Optional: 1-2oz brewed espresso, for a dirty chai
- Optional: a dusting of cinnamon for topping
Steps
- 1.Make a batch of Sugar-Free Chai Concentrate ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps in the fridge for about a week.
- 2.Warm 4oz of the sugar-free concentrate in a small saucepan or the microwave until hot, but not boiling.
- 3.Steam or froth 4oz of milk (dairy or unsweetened alternative) to about 150°F.
- 4.Combine the warm concentrate and steamed milk in your cup and stir. For a dirty chai, pull a shot of espresso and add it before the milk.

Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Clean-ingredient" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.
Chai doesn’t carry as much added sugar as some seasonal syrup drinks, but a grande chai latte still runs real sugar you may not need – most café versions are built from a pre-sweetened concentrate. This version keeps the same black tea and warming-spice flavor with close to none of it, no espresso machine required, and once the concentrate’s made, assembly takes about 2 minutes.
Make the Concentrate First (Just Once)
This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Sugar-Free Chai Concentrate in the fridge – a 20-minute batch that makes about 6 drinks’ worth and keeps for about a week. If you haven’t made a batch yet, go do that first, then come back here.
Building the Latte
- Warm 4oz of the sugar-free concentrate until hot, but not boiling.
- Steam or froth 4oz of milk (dairy, or an unsweetened alternative if you’re also watching carbs from milk) to about 150°F.
- Combine the warm concentrate and steamed milk in your cup and stir.
- Dust with cinnamon if you want the extra touch.
The concentrate batch is a one-time ~$2.85 and makes about 6 drinks – see the full concentrate recipe for the batch method and cost breakdown, which comes out to roughly $0.48 per drink in concentrate alone.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a chai latte, monk fruit/allulose sweetener at typical grocery pricing (~$3/cup at bulk-bag pricing). Your numbers shift a little with which sweetener brand you use – the gap doesn’t change.
Want It Dirty? Add a Shot of Espresso
Same rule as the Standard tier: a dirty chai is this concentrate and milk, plus a shot of espresso, nothing else changed. Pull a double shot (about 2oz) and add it to your cup before the milk. It adds about $0.22 and roughly 5 calories – bringing the total to about $1.00/drink, 82 calories – since the sweetener stays sugar-free either way.

FAQ
Do I need to make the concentrate every time I want this drink?
No – that’s why it’s its own recipe now. One batch keeps about a week in the fridge and covers roughly 6 drinks, so this page is just the 2-minute assembly step.
Can I buy a sugar-free chai concentrate instead of making it?
A few brands carry a “less sugar” or “skinny” chai concentrate, but the per-bottle price runs well above what this costs to make, and you control exactly which sweetener goes in. This version costs a fraction of that.
How much sugar does this actually save me?
A standard café chai latte carries meaningful added sugar in a grande size – comparable to our other flavored lattes, roughly the high-teens to low-20s in grams, mostly from the pre-made concentrate cafés use. This version has close to zero, depending on which sweetener you use.
