    Lavender Vanilla Latte

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch each of Lavender Syrup and Vanilla Syrup)$0.89/drink221 cal/drink

Uses Lavender Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk, steamed or frothed
    • 1.5 tbsp Lavender Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • 0.5 tbsp Vanilla Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it also keeps about 2 weeks)
    • Optional: whipped cream for topping

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch each of Lavender Syrup and Vanilla Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- both keep about 2 weeks in the fridge.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
    3. 3.Stir in 1.5 tbsp of the lavender syrup and 0.5 tbsp of the vanilla syrup while the espresso is still hot, until both are fully combined -- lavender leads, vanilla rounds it out, matching Peet's own published ratio.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
    5. 5.Top with whipped cream if using. Serve immediately.

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. Lavender and vanilla is a real, currently-sold chain drink, not a flavor theory — Peet’s publishes its own “Big Bang Lavender Latte” recipe at a 1.5 tbsp lavender syrup to 0.5 tbsp vanilla syrup ratio, and Torani sells the same lavender-vanilla combination as an official syrup pairing. This version combines this site’s own Vanilla Syrup and Lavender Syrup.

Two Existing Syrups, Same Reuse Pattern as Lavender Matcha

This drink needed no new syrup, the same real question this site already answered for its Lavender Matcha Latte: check whether the two flavors can just combine directly before building anything new. They can — 1.5 tbsp Lavender Syrup plus 0.5 tbsp Vanilla Syrup, matching Peet’s own published ratio exactly. Lavender leads here (the opposite weighting from the Lavender Matcha Latte, where matcha led) — vanilla is the rounding note, not the other way around.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 1.5 tbsp Lavender Syrup and 0.5 tbsp Vanilla Syrup while the espresso is still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso mixture.
    4. Top with whipped cream if you want the full cafe look.
Cafe Lavender Vanilla Latte vs. Home Version
Cafe grande flavored latte (tax included)$5.95
Home lavender vanilla latte (espresso, milk, both syrups)~$0.89
    Savings per drink$5.06

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average cafe pricing for a standard flavored latte (used here rather than a specific unverified Peet’s price, since we’re citing Peet’s and Torani for the real recipe and ratio, not a specific current menu price), dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans, culinary lavender and real vanilla extract at typical grocery pricing. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,214/year back in your pocket versus the cafe version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want it more floral? Push to a 2:1 ratio (2 tbsp lavender, no more than 1 tbsp vanilla) rather than going past 2 tbsp lavender total — same soapy-risk ceiling our Lavender Syrup page warns about.
    • Only have one of the two bases made? This drink genuinely needs both — if you’re out of one, make the plain Lavender Latte or Vanilla Latte instead.
    • Watching sugar? This is Standard tier only for now.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — less milk (4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed).

    Recipe Card Summary

    Lavender Vanilla Latte

    • 2oz espresso + 8oz steamed milk + 1.5 tbsp Lavender Syrup + 0.5 tbsp Vanilla Syrup (both made ahead)
    • Prep time: 5 minutes (after both bases are made) · Total: 5 minutes
    • Cost: ~$0.89/drink vs. $5.95 cafe equivalent

    FAQ

Is this the same as Peet’s Big Bang Lavender Latte?

Close in spirit and in ratio — Peet’s own published recipe is 1.5 tbsp lavender syrup to 0.5 tbsp vanilla syrup, which this recipe matches, built from this site’s own syrups instead of Peet’s bottled ones.

Is this the same as your Lavender Matcha Latte?

No — that drink pairs lavender with matcha, with matcha as the dominant pour. This pairs lavender with vanilla instead, and lavender is the dominant flavor here, not matcha.

Do I need to make a whole new syrup for this?

No — it uses the same Lavender Syrup and Vanilla Syrup you’d make for this site’s plain lavender and vanilla lattes, just combined in one cup at Peet’s own ratio.
