Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. The “Nutty Irishman” is a real, classic cocktail — equal parts Baileys Irish Cream and Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, stirred over ice — and Irish cream and hazelnut liqueur are widely described as a natural match, since Frangelico itself is built on toasted hazelnuts, brown sugar, and a touch of cocoa and vanilla. This latte builds the same pairing non-alcoholic, from this site’s own Irish Cream Syrup and Hazelnut Syrup.

Two Real Bases, Non-Alcoholic by Design

This site’s Irish Cream Syrup is already built from non-alcoholic Irish cream flavoring, the same base every Irish Cream recipe here uses. Combined with the existing Hazelnut Syrup, 1 tbsp each, this reaches the same flavor direction as the real cocktail without the alcohol — no new syrup needed.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 1 tbsp Irish Cream Syrup and 1 tbsp Hazelnut Syrup while the espresso is still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso mixture.
Bar/Café Nutty Irishman Latte vs. Home Version
Specialty/independent-café Irish cream hazelnut latte (tax included)~$6.75
Home Irish cream hazelnut latte (espresso, milk, both bases)~$1.08
    Savings per drink$5.67

Assumptions: grande-size drink, independent/specialty-café pricing, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. This doesn’t include the cost of actual liqueur bottles, since this recipe is built non-alcoholic. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,361/year back in your pocket.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want the real alcoholic version? Stir equal parts actual Baileys and Frangelico into hot coffee and milk instead — this recipe is written for the syrup-based, non-alcoholic version.
    • Watching sugar? Swap in Sugar-Free Irish Cream Syrup and/or Sugar-Free Hazelnut Syrup 1:1.

    FAQ

Is the Nutty Irishman a real cocktail?

Yes — it’s a classic, widely-documented drink: equal parts Baileys Irish Cream and Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, stirred over ice.

    Does this latte contain alcohol?

No — it uses this site’s existing non-alcoholic Irish Cream Syrup, the same base every Irish Cream recipe on this site uses.

How is this different from your Hazelnut Caramel or Hazelnut Honey Lattes?

Those pair Hazelnut Syrup with caramel and honey respectively; this drink pairs it with Irish Cream instead — a creamier, dessert-liqueur-adjacent direction.
