    Caramel Macadamia Nut Latte

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch each of Macadamia Syrup and Caramel Syrup)$0.95/drink229 cal/drink

This site already has a full Chocolate Macadamia family — syrup, latte, frappé, mocha, nitro cold brew — but every one of those pairs macadamia with real cocoa. This drink is the pairing that family doesn’t cover: macadamia with caramel instead of chocolate, so the nut flavor and the browned-sugar caramel can actually lead together instead of fighting a third flavor for attention.

    Where This Pairing Comes From

Caramel macadamia isn’t a named drink at one specific chain or café. What’s real: Nespresso’s own published recipe (opens in new tab) pairs macadamia with a sweet syrup (maple, in their case) and crushed nuts on top — the same basic format this drink uses, just with caramel standing in for the maple. Separately, caramel-and-nut-syrup pairings are already a real category this site leans on heavily: our own Caramel Syrup is already combined with hazelnut, pistachio, and butter pecan syrups elsewhere on the site, and commercial syrup brands like Monin sell a caramel-plus-nut-syrup drink format too. This recipe applies that same established pairing logic to macadamia specifically.

Make the Syrups First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar each of Macadamia Syrup (a plain version built specifically so no cocoa competes with the caramel here) and Caramel Syrup in the fridge. Both keep about 2 weeks. If you haven’t made either batch yet, make those first, then come back here.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 1 tbsp Macadamia Syrup, 1 tbsp Caramel Syrup, and a pinch of salt while the espresso is still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso mixture.
    4. Top with chopped toasted macadamias and a caramel drizzle if you want the full café look.
Specialty Café Caramel Macadamia Latte vs. Home Version
Specialty/indie-café caramel macadamia latte (grande, tax included)~$6.25
Home caramel macadamia latte (espresso, milk, both syrups)~$0.95
    Savings per drink$5.30

Assumptions: grande-size drink, specialty/indie-café pricing (this isn’t a standard chain menu item, so it’s priced the same way our other specialty-flavor drinks are — see the Chocolate Macadamia Latte for the same framing), dairy milk, raw macadamia nuts at typical grocery/bulk pricing, and this site’s own Caramel Syrup. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,272/year back in your pocket versus the café version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want it more caramel-forward? An extra 1/2 tbsp of Caramel Syrup nudges that flavor up without losing the macadamia underneath.
    • Want the chocolate version instead? That’s our existing Chocolate Macadamia Latte — same macadamia technique, built on Chocolate Macadamia Syrup with real cocoa instead of caramel.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — less milk (4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed).
    • Watching sugar? This flavor doesn’t have Sugar-Free or Ingredient-Honest tiers yet — Standard-tier only for now.

    FAQ

Is this the same as your Chocolate Macadamia Latte?

No — the Chocolate Macadamia Latte is built on Chocolate Macadamia Syrup, which has real cocoa cooked into it. This drink uses the plain Macadamia Syrup instead, paired with Caramel Syrup — no chocolate anywhere in it.

Is caramel macadamia a real café drink?

Not under that exact name at one specific chain or café. What is real: Nespresso’s own recipe library pairs macadamia with a sweet syrup and crushed nuts (using maple in their version), and caramel-plus-nut-syrup combinations are already a real category — including on this site, where Caramel Syrup is already paired with hazelnut, pistachio, and butter pecan. This recipe applies that same pairing logic to macadamia.

Why does this cost less than your Chocolate Macadamia Latte?

The Macadamia Syrup here skips the cocoa powder line item that the chocolate version has, and it’s paired with Caramel Syrup, which is one of the cheapest syrups on the site (browned sugar and water, no nuts or chocolate in it at all).
