    Chocolate Macadamia Latte

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch of Chocolate Macadamia Syrup that makes about 12 servings)$1.03/drink238 cal/drink

Uses Chocolate Macadamia Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk, steamed or frothed
    • 2 tbsp Chocolate Macadamia Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • Optional: whipped cream and a few chopped toasted macadamias for topping

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Chocolate Macadamia Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps in the fridge for about 2 weeks, so this is a once-every-couple-weeks step, not a per-drink one.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
    3. 3.Stir 2 tbsp of the chocolate macadamia syrup into the hot espresso until fully combined -- give the jar a shake or stir first, since a little fine nut meal can settle at the bottom.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso-syrup mixture.
    5. 5.Top with whipped cream and a few chopped toasted macadamias if using. Serve immediately.

Chocolate Macadamia is a genuinely real-ingredient flavor — toasted macadamia nuts and real cocoa, steeped orgeat-style into a syrup, not a chocolate-flavoring-plus-nut-flavoring blend. Once the syrup batch is made, building the actual latte takes about 2 minutes.

Make the Syrup First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Chocolate Macadamia Syrup in the fridge — a 40-minute batch (most of it toasting, steeping, and cooling) that makes about 12 drinks’ worth and keeps for 2 weeks. If you haven’t made a batch yet, go do that first, then come back here.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 2 tbsp of the chocolate macadamia syrup while the espresso is still hot — give the jar a stir first, since a little of the fine nut meal can settle at the bottom.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F (see How to Make a Latte at Home if you’re new to the technique) and pour it over the espresso-syrup mix.
    4. Top with whipped cream and a few chopped toasted macadamias if you want the full café look.
Café Chocolate Macadamia Latte vs. Home Version
Café grande chocolate macadamia latte (specialty-menu pricing, tax included)$6.25
Home chocolate macadamia latte (espresso, milk, syrup)~$1.03
    Savings per drink$5.22

The syrup batch itself is a one-time ~$2.49 and makes about 12 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the toast-and-steep method and cost breakdown. It’s the pricier syrup on this site (raw macadamia nuts aren’t cheap), but it still pays for itself well before the jar runs out.

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average specialty-menu pricing (chocolate macadamia isn’t a standard menu item at most chains, so this reflects a representative specialty/indie-café price), dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. At 5 chocolate macadamia lattes a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,253/year back in your pocket versus the café version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want it more chocolate-forward? An extra 1/2 tbsp of the syrup nudges the cocoa flavor up without overwhelming the macadamia.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — less milk (4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed), same method as every other iced latte on the site.
    • Watching sugar? We haven’t built Sugar-Free or Ingredient-Honest tiers of this flavor yet — this is Standard-tier only for now.

    Recipe Card Summary

    Chocolate Macadamia Latte

    • 2oz espresso + 8oz steamed milk + 2 tbsp Chocolate Macadamia Syrup (made ahead)
    • Prep time: 5 minutes (after the syrup is made) · Total: 5 minutes
    • Cost: ~$1.03/drink vs. $6.25 café equivalent

    FAQ

Is this really made with real macadamia nuts, or is it a flavoring?

Real nuts — the syrup toasts, crushes, and steeps actual macadamia nuts directly in the syrup (the same orgeat method that gives almond syrup its flavor), plus real unsweetened cocoa. No macadamia extract or chocolate flavoring anywhere in it.

Can I make this without an espresso machine?

Yes — a moka pot, AeroPress, or strong drip coffee all work. See How to Make a Latte at Home for the no-machine method.

Why does this cost more than your other flavored lattes?

The syrup does — raw macadamia nuts run roughly double what most other nuts cost per pound, so the syrup itself is priced at about $0.21/serving versus the site’s usual $0.09-0.11 range. It’s still a fraction of a café price either way.
