Same drink, three ways. Ingredient-Honest is our top recommendation -- Standard and Sugar-Free are the other options.

Uses Banana Bread Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk, steamed or frothed
    • 2 tbsp Banana Bread Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • Optional: whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon for topping

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Banana Bread Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps in the fridge for about 2 weeks, so this is a once-every-couple-weeks step, not a per-drink one.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
    3. 3.Stir 2 tbsp of the banana bread syrup into the hot espresso until fully combined.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso-syrup mixture.
    5. 5.Top with whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon if using. Serve immediately.

Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Ingredient-Honest" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.

Banana bread flavor showed up on fall 2026 café menus as a genuinely new item, not a repeat of a prior year’s flavor — and it’s an easy one to replicate at home, since the flavor comes from banana extract and warm baking spice rather than anything chain-proprietary. Once you’ve made the syrup batch, this part takes about 2 minutes.

Make the Syrup First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Banana Bread Syrup in the fridge — it’s a 10-minute batch that makes about 12 drinks’ worth and keeps for 2 weeks, so you only need to make it every couple of weeks, not every morning. If you haven’t made a batch yet, go do that first, then come back here.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 2 tbsp of the banana bread syrup while the espresso is still hot — it dissolves faster and blends better than adding it after the milk.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F (see How to Make a Latte at Home for the full milk-steaming technique if you’re new to it) and pour it over the espresso-syrup mix.
    4. Top with whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon if you want the full café look.
Café Banana Bread Latte vs. Home Banana Bread Latte
Café grande banana bread latte (tax included)$5.95
Home banana bread latte (espresso, milk, syrup)~$0.96
    Savings per drink$4.99

The syrup batch itself is a one-time ~$1.66 and makes about 12 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the batch method and cost breakdown. Split across servings, it’s already paid for itself well before the jar’s empty.

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a standard flavored latte, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans. As a new-to-menu flavor, café pricing here is estimated from comparable flavored lattes rather than a long price history — worth double-checking against your local menu once it’s actually on shelves near you.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want it richer? Use a splash more syrup (2.5-3 tbsp) rather than adding sugar separately — the syrup already carries the right balance of sweetness to spice.
    • Watching sugar? This is the classic-flavor version. If you want the same drink with less or no sugar, see the Sugar-Free Banana Bread Latte (same method, swapped sweetener) or the Ingredient-Honest Banana Bread Latte (real mashed banana and real maple syrup, no refined sugar — our top recommendation if you’re choosing between the three, with an honest note on its shorter syrup shelf life).
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — it’s not just “add ice.” You’ll want less milk (about 4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed, since the ice takes up room in the glass) and the syrup still goes into the hot espresso first so it dissolves, before that mixture gets poured over ice and topped with cold milk.

    FAQ

Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?

No — that’s the whole reason the syrup lives in its own recipe. One batch keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge and covers roughly 12 drinks, so this page is just the 5-minute assembly step.

Can I make this without an espresso machine?

Yes — a moka pot, AeroPress, or even strong drip coffee works. See How to Make a Latte at Home for the no-machine method.

    Does this use real banana?

Not in this Standard version — it’s banana extract plus warm baking spice, which keeps like our other syrups (2 weeks) instead of a few days. If you want the real-fruit version, see the Ingredient-Honest Banana Bread Latte, which uses real mashed banana and is upfront about the shorter shelf life that comes with it.
