    Mango Dragonfruit Cooler

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (16oz)~$1.30/drink -- frozen dragonfruit and mango, plus mango nectar, no tea or syrup batch required113 cal/serving

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

    Ingredients

    • 1.5oz (about 3 tbsp) frozen dragonfruit/pitaya cubes, thawed slightly and blended or mashed into a rough puree
    • 3oz (6 tbsp) mango nectar or mango juice
    • 1oz (2 tbsp) diced mango pieces (fresh or frozen and thawed), for texture
    • 1oz (2 tbsp) white grape juice
    • Water and ice to fill a 16oz glass

    Steps

    1. 1.Blend or mash the dragonfruit cubes into a rough puree -- a fork works if you don't want to dirty a blender for one drink.
    2. 2.Fill a 16oz glass most of the way with ice.
    3. 3.Add the dragonfruit puree, mango nectar, and white grape juice, and stir well until the puree is mostly dissolved into the liquid (a few flecks of dragonfruit seed/pulp are normal and part of the texture).
    4. 4.Add the diced mango pieces, top off with a splash of water if needed to fill the glass, and stir once more. Serve immediately with a straw.

Like the Strawberry Açaí Cooler, the café Mango Dragonfruit Cooler runs on a proprietary base most of us can’t buy — this one specifically uses white grape and passionfruit juices blended with dragonfruit pieces. Ours skips the exact concentrate and builds the flavor straight from real dragonfruit (frozen pitaya cubes, sold at most grocery stores now) and mango. No coffee, no espresso, no tea even — just fruit.

    Building the Drink

    1. Blend or mash 1.5oz frozen dragonfruit cubes into a rough puree.
    2. Fill a 16oz glass mostly with ice.
    3. Add the dragonfruit puree, 3oz mango nectar, and 1oz white grape juice. Stir well.
    4. Add 1oz diced mango pieces, top off with a splash of water if needed, and stir once more.
Café Mango Dragonfruit Cooler vs. Home Version
Grande Mango Dragonfruit Cooler (tax included)$5.45
    Home version (dragonfruit, mango, juice)~$1.30
    Savings per drink$4.15

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing, frozen dragonfruit/pitaya cubes (a genuinely pricier specialty item, which is most of this recipe’s cost), mango nectar, and white grape juice at typical grocery pricing. At 5 of these a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $996/year back in your pocket versus the café version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • Frozen dragonfruit is the priciest ingredient here by far — if your store doesn’t carry it, look in the frozen fruit aisle near the mango and berries, or an international/Asian grocery. Skipping it entirely turns this into a straight mango cooler, which is fine but isn’t really “dragonfruit” anymore.
    • Want it creamier? See our Dragonfruit Coconut Cooler — same base, with coconut milk swapped in for the water.
    • No mango nectar? Straight mango juice or even orange juice works as a substitute in a pinch, though the flavor shifts a little.

    FAQ

Where do I actually find frozen dragonfruit?

Most large grocery chains now carry frozen pitaya/dragonfruit cubes in the frozen fruit aisle, usually near mango and mixed berries. If yours doesn’t, an Asian or international grocery store is a reliable backup, and it’s also easy to order online.

Can I use fresh dragonfruit instead of frozen?

Yes, if you can find ripe fresh dragonfruit near you — scoop the flesh and mash or blend it the same way. It’s usually pricier and less consistently available than frozen, which is why this recipe defaults to frozen.

Is there any caffeine in this drink?

None — there’s no tea or coffee anywhere in this recipe, just fruit and juice. If you want a caffeinated version, see our Mango Dragonfruit Energy Cooler, which adds a real energy-drink base.
