    Hazelnut Honey Latte

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch each of Hazelnut Syrup and Honey Syrup)$1.22/drink239 cal/drink

Uses Hazelnut Syrup — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
    • 8oz milk, steamed or frothed
    • 1 tbsp Hazelnut Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
    • 1 tbsp Honey Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 3 weeks in the fridge)
    • Optional: a pinch of ground cinnamon on top, matching the finish several independent recipes for this pairing use

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch each of Hazelnut Syrup and Honey Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
    3. 3.Stir in 1 tbsp of the hazelnut syrup and 1 tbsp of the honey syrup while the espresso is still hot, until both are fully combined.
    4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
    5. 5.Finish with a pinch of ground cinnamon on top if using. Serve immediately.

Hazelnut and honey is a real, officially documented pairing, not a flavor theory — both Blue Diamond (opens in new tab) and Nespresso (opens in new tab) publish their own hazelnut-honey latte or coffee recipes, and several independent coffee blogs finish the same combination with a pinch of cinnamon. This is that pairing, built from two syrups this site already has.

Two Existing Syrups, No New Jar

This drink combines 1 tbsp Hazelnut Syrup with 1 tbsp Honey Syrup — an even split, since the official recipes treat hazelnut and honey as co-leads rather than one flavor backing up the other. If you already keep either syrup on hand for our plain Hazelnut Latte or Honey Oatmilk Latte, you’re most of the way to this drink already.

    Building the Latte

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) directly into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
    2. Stir in 1 tbsp Hazelnut Syrup and 1 tbsp Honey Syrup while the espresso is still hot.
    3. Steam or froth 8oz of milk to about 150°F and pour it over the espresso mixture.
    4. Finish with a pinch of ground cinnamon on top if you want the full look — several of the independent recipes behind this pairing finish it that way.
Café Hazelnut Honey Latte vs. Home Version
Café grande flavored latte (tax included)$5.95
Home hazelnut honey latte (espresso, milk, both syrups)~$1.22
    Savings per drink$4.73

Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing for a standard flavored latte, dairy milk, $16/lb specialty beans or equivalent grocery beans, real honey and hazelnut extract at typical grocery pricing. At 5 drinks a week over the site’s standard 48-week year, that’s roughly $1,135/year back in your pocket versus the café version.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? A moka pot or strong AeroPress shot works fine.
    • Want it more hazelnut-forward or more honey-forward? Shift the ratio — 1.5 tbsp of one and 0.5 tbsp of the other. The cost and calorie math above assumes an even 1:1 split.
    • Only have one of the two bases made? This drink genuinely needs both — if you’re out of one, make the plain Hazelnut Latte or Honey Oatmilk Latte instead rather than doubling up on whichever jar you have.
    • Watching sugar? This is Standard tier only for now.
    • Iced version: use the Hot/Iced toggle above the ingredients to switch — less milk (4oz cold over ice instead of 8oz steamed).

    Recipe Card Summary

    Hazelnut Honey Latte

    • 2oz espresso + 8oz steamed milk + 1 tbsp Hazelnut Syrup + 1 tbsp Honey Syrup (both made ahead)
    • Prep time: 5 minutes (after both bases are made) · Total: 5 minutes
    • Cost: ~$1.22/drink vs. $5.95 café equivalent

    FAQ

Is this a real pairing or one this site invented?

Real — both Blue Diamond and Nespresso publish official hazelnut-honey coffee recipes, and it shows up independently across several coffee blogs too, often finished with a pinch of cinnamon the way this recipe’s optional topping does.

Do I need to make a whole new syrup for this?

No — it uses 1 tbsp each of the Hazelnut Syrup and Honey Syrup you’d make for this site’s plain hazelnut and honey lattes.

Can I make this without an espresso machine?

Yes — a moka pot, AeroPress, or even strong drip coffee works fine.
