    Cranberry Orange Frappé

The BYOB Team5 min1 drink (from a batch of Cranberry Orange Sauce that makes about 12 servings)$0.84/drink203 cal/drink

Uses Cranberry Orange Sauce — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

    Ingredients & steps

    Standard

    Ingredients

    • 2oz espresso, freshly pulled (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/cold brew)
    • 2 tbsp Cranberry Orange Sauce (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
    • 1.5 cups ice (about 10-12 standard cubes)
    • 4oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk)
    • Optional: whipped cream, a few extra dried cranberries, and a pinch of orange zest for topping

    Steps

    1. 1.Make a batch of Cranberry Orange Sauce ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge.
    2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee/cold brew) -- no need to cool it first.
    3. 3.Add the espresso, cranberry orange sauce, ice, and cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) to a blender.
    4. 4.Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy, with small cranberry flecks still visible.
    5. 5.Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream, a few extra dried cranberries, and a pinch of orange zest if using, and serve immediately with a straw.

Cranberry, orange, and white chocolate is a flavor combo that shows up on holiday dessert menus every November — our Cranberry Orange Latte turned it into a latte, and this blends that same sauce with espresso, milk, and ice into a frappé instead. To be upfront: this is our own drink built around that flavor idea, not a recreation of any specific café’s bakery item.

Make the Sauce First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Cranberry Orange Sauce in the fridge — a 25-minute batch (mostly steeping and cooling) that makes about 12 drinks’ worth and keeps about a week. If you haven’t made a batch yet, make that first, then come back here.

    Building the Frappé

    1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz), or brew strong coffee/cold brew instead.
    2. Add the espresso, 2 tbsp of the cranberry orange sauce, 1.5 cups of ice, and 4oz cold whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) to a blender.
    3. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy — the cranberry flecks stay visible even blended, which is normal.
    4. Pour into a 16oz glass, top with whipped cream, a few extra dried cranberries, and a pinch of orange zest if using, and serve immediately with a straw.
Café Seasonal Specialty Frappé vs. Home Version
    Café grande seasonal white-chocolate Frappuccino-style blended drink$6.45
Home Cranberry Orange Frappé (espresso, milk, ice, sauce)~$0.84
    Savings per drink$5.61

The sauce batch itself is a one-time ~$3.85 and makes about 12 drinks — see the full sauce recipe for the method and cost breakdown. Same batch also covers the latte version.

Assumptions: grande-size blended drink, national-average pricing for a seasonal white-chocolate specialty Frappuccino-style drink (this flavor combo isn’t a literal menu item at most chains, so this compares against the closest real seasonal analog), whole milk, white chocolate, dried cranberries, and fresh orange at typical grocery pricing. This one has a real seasonal ceiling — it’s a Nov-Dec flavor, the same roughly 8-week window as our Gingerbread Latte — but at 5 cranberry orange frappés a week across that window, that’s still about $224 back in your pocket for the season versus café pricing, and the homemade sauce keeps working past the point any seasonal menu pulls the flavor.

    Swaps & Notes

    • No espresso machine? Strong cold brew or a moka pot shot both work fine.
    • This drink costs more per serving than our plain syrup-based frappés (vanilla, caramel), and that’s honest — real white chocolate, dried cranberries, and fresh citrus all cost more than sugar and water.
    • Prefer it poured over ice instead of blended? See the Cranberry Orange Latte and use its Hot/Iced toggle.
    • Watching sugar? This is the classic-flavor version. See the Sugar-Free Cranberry Orange Latte (read its honest note first) or the Ingredient-Honest Cranberry Orange Latte for lower-sugar bases you can blend with ice yourself.

    FAQ

Is this a real café menu drink?

Not a literal one — it’s our own frappé built around a cranberry-orange-white-chocolate flavor combo that’s common on holiday dessert menus, not a copy of any specific chain’s bakery item or drink.

Can I make this without a blender?

Yes — the iced Cranberry Orange Latte uses the exact same espresso, milk, and sauce quantities poured over ice instead of blended.

How long is Cranberry Orange actually in season?

Like our Gingerbread Latte, this is mainly a Nov-Dec flavor at cafés that run seasonal menus. The homemade sauce doesn’t care what month it is, though — nothing stops you from making it in July.
