Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Clean-ingredient" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.
Our Standard Orange Cardamom Latte already uses real orange zest instead of extract – so the two things left to upgrade for a whole-ingredient version are the sweetener and how long the zest and cardamom get to infuse. This tier swaps the cane-sugar syrup for real maple, infused directly with the zest and pods for longer. No refined sugar, no citrus extract, and once the syrup’s made, assembly takes about 2 minutes.
What “Clean-Ingredient” Means Here
Maple syrup, real orange zest, whole cardamom pods, and vanilla extract doing all the work – nothing you’d need a label to identify. It’s not a “diet” version like our Sugar-Free tier; it’s a rebuilt-from-real-food version, and we’re upfront below about where it doesn’t win: calories and total sugar land close to the Standard version, because maple syrup isn’t meaningfully lower in either. The upgrade here is ingredient sourcing and a rounder, more concentrated citrus-and-cardamom flavor from the longer infusion, not a nutrition hack.
The syrup itself is a one-time ~$7.90 (real maple syrup, fresh oranges, and whole cardamom pods are the entire cost) and makes about 9 drinks – see the full syrup recipe for the cost breakdown, which comes out to roughly $0.88 per drink in syrup alone.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, café pricing closer to an independent specialty shop than a big chain (see the Standard latte for why), whole milk, real maple syrup, fresh oranges, and whole cardamom pods at typical grocery pricing.
Why This Costs More Than the Other Two Tiers (and Why That’s Fine)
Being straight about the math: this version saves about $0.72 less per drink than the Standard syrup version and about $0.51 less than the Sugar-Free version, because real maple syrup, fresh oranges, and whole cardamom pods cost more than sugar or a sugar-free sweetener blend. It’s also not lower in calories or total sugar than the Standard version. What you’re paying the premium for is ingredient sourcing and a longer, gentler infusion that pulls more flavor out of the same zest and pods – nothing you couldn’t name out loud. This is the tier we recommend by default – pick it because you want that, not because we’re pretending it’s the cheapest or lowest-calorie option. It isn’t; the Standard version is cheaper and the Sugar-Free version is far lower in calories.

FAQ
Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?
No – that’s why it’s its own recipe now. One batch keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge and covers roughly 9 drinks, so this page is just the quick assembly step.
Is this recipe actually lower in sugar than the Standard version?
Not meaningfully – maple syrup and cane sugar carry a similar amount of sugar per serving. If sugar content specifically is your priority, see the Sugar-Free Orange Cardamom Latte instead, which is built to minimize it.
Why is this version more expensive than the other two?
Real maple syrup, fresh oranges, and whole cardamom pods simply cost more per serving than sugar or a sugar-free sweetener does. It’s still a large saving over a specialty-café orange cardamom latte – just the smallest saving of the three tiers, and we’d rather tell you that upfront than round up the number.
