Uses Toasted Pecan Brown Butter Maple Syrup (Clean-Ingredient) — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.
Ingredients & steps

Ingredients
- 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
- 8oz whole milk (or full-fat oat milk), steamed or frothed
- 2 tbsp Toasted Pecan Brown Butter Maple Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge)
- Optional: whipped cream and a few chopped toasted pecans for topping
Steps
- 1.Make a batch of Toasted Pecan Brown Butter Maple Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- it keeps about 1 week in the fridge (shorter than our other syrups, since this one has real butter in it).
- 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
- 3.Stir in 2 tbsp of the toasted pecan brown butter maple syrup while the espresso is hot until fully combined.
- 4.Steam or froth 8oz of whole milk or full-fat oat milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
- 5.Top with whipped cream and a few chopped toasted pecans if using. Serve immediately.

Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Clean-ingredient" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.
Our Standard and Sugar-Free maple pecan syrups both lean on a bottled butter pecan extract. This tier skips the bottle: real pecans, toasted directly in real browned butter, then steeped into real maple syrup. It’s the most whole-food version of the three — and, unusually for this site, not the most expensive.
What “Clean-Ingredient” Means Here (and Why It Skips Extract Entirely)
Unlike our Hazelnut and Toffee Nut Clean-Ingredient recipes, which still lean on a little bottled extract to read clearly once diluted into a latte, this syrup doesn’t use any. Toasting real pecans directly in hot browned butter transfers more flavor than steeping raw nuts in lukewarm syrup, and browned butter itself carries a strong, distinct flavor on its own — combined, they carry the drink without backup. See the full syrup recipe for the honest note on this, including what to do if you want it more pronounced.
Make the Syrup First (Just Once)
This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Toasted Pecan Brown Butter Maple Syrup in the fridge — a 25-minute batch (mostly browning, toasting, steeping, and cooling) that makes about 8 drinks’ worth and keeps about 1 week (shorter than our other syrups, since this one has real butter in it). If you haven’t made a batch yet, make that first, then come back here.
Building the Latte
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
- Stir in 2 tbsp of the toasted pecan brown butter maple syrup while the espresso is hot.
- Steam or froth 8oz of whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
- Top with whipped cream and a few chopped toasted pecans if you want the full café look.
The syrup itself is a one-time ~$5.55 (butter, pecans, and real maple syrup, no extract to buy) and makes about 8 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the breakdown, which comes out to roughly $0.69 per drink in syrup alone.
Assumptions: grande-size drink, national-average café pricing, whole milk, unsalted butter and raw pecans at typical grocery pricing. Interestingly, this tier costs less than our Standard version ($1.51 vs. $1.60) — the syrup uses 3/4 cup real maple syrup per batch instead of the Standard recipe’s full cup, so even with butter and pecans added, it works out a little cheaper overall. That flips the usual “Clean-Ingredient is the priciest” pattern seen in our other flavor families.
Why This Is Cheaper Than Our Standard Tier (an Unusual Flip)
Being straight about the math: on every other flavor family on this site, Clean-Ingredient costs more than Standard because real maple syrup and whole ingredients cost more than cane sugar. Maple pecan inverts that, because Standard also uses real maple syrup here — and uses more of it per batch (1 full cup vs. this recipe’s 3/4 cup), since the Standard syrup relies on straight maple syrup plus extract rather than “extending” the flavor across toasted pecans and browned butter the way this version does. The result: this tier ends up both the most whole-food and the cheaper of the two real-maple versions — a genuine win, not a rounding trick. It’s still not lower in sugar or calories than the Standard version, since both use real maple syrup; if that’s your goal, see the Sugar-Free Maple Pecan Latte instead.

FAQ
Is this actually a healthier maple pecan latte?
It avoids bottled extract in favor of real toasted pecans and real browned butter, but it isn’t lower in sugar or calories than the Standard version — both are built on real maple syrup. “Clean-ingredient” here means ingredient sourcing and technique, not a nutrition upgrade. See the Sugar-Free Maple Pecan Latte if cutting sugar or calories is the goal.
Why is this cheaper than the Standard version, when Clean-Ingredient is usually the priciest tier on this site?
Because Standard also uses real maple syrup for this particular flavor family (maple isn’t a health-tier-only swap here — it’s the flavor itself), and it uses more of it per batch than this recipe does. This syrup “extends” its smaller amount of maple syrup with toasted pecans and browned butter instead, which ends up costing a little less overall. See the honest note above for the full comparison.
Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?
No — one batch covers about 8 drinks over about a week. The Toasted Pecan Brown Butter Maple Syrup recipe is meant to be made ahead, just replaced a little more often than our non-dairy syrups.
