Compare the 3 tiers of this drink

Same drink, three ways. Clean-Ingredient is our top recommendation -- Standard and Sugar-Free are the other options.

Uses Lavender-Maple Syrup (Clean-Ingredient) — make a batch ahead of time; it keeps in the fridge for a week or two, so you won't need to make it again for every drink.

Ingredients & steps

Clean-Ingredient

Written hot. Switch to see the iced version's ingredients and steps.

Ingredients

  • 2oz espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee/moka pot equivalent)
  • 8oz whole milk (or full-fat oat milk), steamed or frothed
  • 2 tbsp Lavender-Maple Syrup (make a batch ahead of time -- it keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge)
  • Optional: whipped cream for topping

Steps

  1. 1.Make a batch of Lavender-Maple Syrup ahead of time if you haven't already -- a 20-minute batch (most of it hands-off steeping) that keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge.
  2. 2.Pull a double shot of espresso (or brew strong coffee) directly into your serving cup.
  3. 3.Stir in 2 tbsp of the lavender-maple syrup while the espresso is hot until fully combined.
  4. 4.Steam or froth 8oz of whole milk or full-fat oat milk to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
  5. 5.Top with whipped cream if using. Serve immediately.

Not medical or nutrition advice. Calorie figures on this page are estimates based on typical ingredient values, not a lab analysis of your exact batch — they'll shift with the brand of milk, syrup, or protein powder you actually use. "Clean-ingredient" and "sugar-free" describe what's in the recipe, not a health claim. If you're managing diabetes, a caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy, or another condition, check with a doctor or dietitian before making a recipe part of your routine. Read the full disclaimer.

Our Standard Lavender Latte already uses real, steeped culinary lavender rather than an artificial flavor — so the one thing left to upgrade for a fully whole-ingredient version is the sweetener. This tier swaps the cane-sugar syrup for real maple syrup, with the same lavender buds steeped directly into it. Once the syrup’s made, assembly takes about 2 minutes.

What “Clean-Ingredient” Means Here

Two ingredients doing all the work: real maple syrup and real culinary lavender buds. No refined cane sugar, no gums, nothing you’d need a label to identify. Same honesty as our other Clean-Ingredient tiers: calories and total sugar land about the same as the Standard version, because maple syrup isn’t meaningfully lower in either. The upgrade here is ingredient sourcing, not a nutrition hack.

Make the Syrup First (Just Once)

This recipe assumes you already have a jar of Lavender-Maple Syrup in the fridge — a 20-minute batch (most of it hands-off steeping) that makes about 10 drinks’ worth and keeps for 2 weeks. If you haven’t made a batch yet, make that first, then come back here.

Building the Latte

  1. Pull a double shot of espresso (about 2oz) into your cup, or brew a strong coffee/moka pot equivalent.
  2. Stir in 2 tbsp of the lavender-maple syrup while the espresso is hot.
  3. Steam or froth 8oz of whole milk (or full-fat oat milk) to about 150°F and pour over the espresso mixture.
  4. Top with whipped cream if you want the full café look.
Café Lavender Latte vs. This Version, Honestly Compared
Independent café grande lavender latte$6.25
Home Clean-Ingredient Lavender Latte~$1.27
Savings per drink$4.98

The syrup itself is a one-time ~$4.45 (real maple syrup is most of the cost) and makes about 10 drinks — see the full syrup recipe for the cost breakdown, which comes out to roughly $0.45 per drink in syrup alone.

Assumptions: grande-size drink, independent-coffee-shop pricing for a specialty/floral flavored latte, whole milk, real maple syrup at typical grocery pricing (~$8-9 for a 12oz bottle). This is the most honest comparison we can give — real maple costs more than a cane-sugar syrup, which is exactly why this tier’s savings are the smallest of the three lavender recipes, even though they’re still substantial.

Why This Costs More Than the Other Two Tiers (and Why That’s Fine)

Being straight about the math: this version saves about $0.39 less per drink than the Standard syrup version and about $0.18 less than the Sugar-Free version, because real maple syrup costs more than sugar or a sugar-free sweetener — the same gap you’ll see across every tiered family on this site. It’s also not lower in calories or total sugar than the Standard version. What you’re actually paying the premium for is ingredient sourcing: no refined sugar, nothing you couldn’t name out loud. This is the tier we recommend by default — pick it because you want that, not because we’re pretending it’s the cheapest or lowest-calorie option. It isn’t; the Standard version is cheaper and the Sugar-Free version is lower-calorie.

FAQ

Do I need to make the syrup every time I want this drink?

No — that’s why it’s its own recipe now. One batch keeps about 2 weeks in the fridge and covers roughly 10 drinks, so this page is just the quick assembly step.

Is this recipe actually lower in sugar than the Standard version?

Not meaningfully — maple syrup and cane sugar carry a similar amount of sugar per serving. If sugar content specifically is your priority, see the Sugar-Free Lavender Latte instead, which is built to minimize it.

Why is this version more expensive than the other two?

Real maple syrup simply costs more per serving than sugar or a sugar-free sweetener does. It’s still a large saving over a café lavender latte — just the smallest saving of the three tiers, and we’d rather tell you that upfront than round up the number.
